Fall 2011 U14 C3 2011-2012
2011-2012 x Fall 2011 U14 C3

The girls faced Hastings in the Championship game. The wind was gale force and the air was cold but the girls did not let that keep them down. They played 70 minutes of good soccer, ending regulation time in a 0-0 tie. So into over time, 2- 5 minute overtime periods. About 4 minutes into the first 5 minute period Samantha broke down the right side of the field fighting her way into the box, unable to get a good shot she crossed the ball out front of the goal to Alyssa who was waiting for the cross. She put it into the back of the net putting them up 1-0. For the last 6 minutes of play the girls dominated possession of the ball and did not allow Hastings the opportunity to get a shot off.

The girls win the game 1-0 in overtime. This is the first ever State Championship title for a team in the Monticello Soccer club, they should be extremely proud of the season they had and what they accomplished. Way to go girls. Have a great winter and we will see you in the spring.

The girls played a good game against Prior Lake, ending in a 1-1 tie. A tie was all they needed to advance to the Championship game. They will now face Hastings for the State Championship title. Good Luck Girls.

State Tournament Game #1

The girls came ready to play, beating unbeaten Hudson 2-0 in game 1 of the state tournament. Goals scored by Alyssa and Sam sealed the victory. This was truely a team effort with everyone playing their best game. The defense was a wall, and middle field play was spectacular. One of their best games of the year.

U14 Girls WEST DISTRICT CHAMPIONS

The girls in the Hotel in Rochester at the State tournament receivng  their trophies

The girls wrapped up the regular season with a 2-0 win over WRC. Keeping their unbeaten streak alive and their consecutive shut out streak going. While it wasn't the prettiest win, the girls played a full game never letting up. Sam scored the first goal a few minutes into the 2nd half and Emily put the insurance goal in the back of the net with just a couple minutes left in the game. Faith also put one in but it was disallowed by the referee, who called the ball in control by the goalie, prior to it gong into the net.

Now the real challenge begins, as the girls head to state this coming weekend in Rochester where they will face an undefeated team from Hudson, WI in their first game on Saturday.

GOOD LUCK GIRLS

Another hard fought game. The first half ended at a 0 to 0 tie. Both teams had opportunities but could not get one past the goalies. Monticello girls put one in, in the second half (just barely made it in). This one goal ended up being the game winner. A strong showing by the defense and goalie kept us in the game. This moves the girls to their 5th straight shut out, they are the only team in U14 brackets state wide to not allow a goal yet this season. This win will give them the district championship as well as a berth to the State tournament in Oct.

CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS!!

Game #4 was a battle to the end of the game, with 2 very well matched teams. Scoreless thru the first half and most of the 2nd half,Sam finally put one in the back of the net with less than 2 minutes to play to give the girls their 4th shut out of the fall season and their 15 consecutive shut out in regular season play. A win in game 5 on Sunday will assure them a berth to the fall state tournament.

The girls get their 3rd shut out of the season and bringing the consecutive regular season shutouts to 14 games. Exceptional play by the mid fielders in this game lead to Sam getting 2 goals. The girls passing game was extrordinary. They controlled possesion of the ball the majority of the game and only allowed 1 shot on goal. Strong play again by the defense and goal keeper. They had many scoring opprotunities including one great play with Lani lacing a crossing pass to Alyssa who smashed it at the goal only to have it hit the cross bar, tremendous effort by these two. The girls are now 3-0 and are holding on to 1st place in the West District.

The girls came out of Game 2 with another strong showing beating SLP 3-0. Goals scored by Aylssa, Sam and Tara, thanks to the great play by the mid field in feeding the ball forward. A strong outting by the defense and goal keepers Abbey and Faith, got them the second shut out of the season. This moves the girls to 2-0 on the season and moves them into 1st place in the West District.
